My to-do list 5 days to Christmas

My to-do list 5 days to Christmas

One of the many reasons why I love Christmas time is the food. You get to enjoy a wonderful home-cooked meal with friends and family. To enjoy this day with my family, I put together my To- do list 5 days to Christmas

My Christmas Menu - Jollof Rice, Fried Rice, Moimoi, Stewed Spinach, Grilled Turkey, Stewed Chicken, Chinchin, Dodo and Homemade Irish Cream

THURSDAY 20TH

I get so giddy and excited when I buy a gift for a loved one. It might be late for some people, but this is the day I make sure all my Christmas gifts are shipped out for delivery. Thankfully, they are not going too far so fingers crossed on getting delivered before Christmas via express post.

Here is my gift to you, use code “Christmaschop” to get $10 off your order. No minimum spend required from today till December 27th

FRIDAY 21ST

This day is for deep cleaning the house. We will clear out our refrigerator; Toss old leftovers to make room for big dishes and ingredients.

SATURDAY 22ND

Making Chinchin is a Christmas tradition I grew up with.  It was a holiday activity I looked forward too as it was always a family affair. So, to keep that tradition and bring me to that celebratory mood, I will be making the chinchin on this day while I listen to some nice Christmas songs.

SUNDAY 23RD

This hopefully will be my last day of shopping. This day is when I buy all the ingredients that I need fresh for my fried rice and some fruits.

I will also take my Goat meat and Turkey out of the freezer and leave them out to thaw.

MONDAY: CHRISTMAS EVE:

To avoid being stuck in the kitchen all day on Christmas day, I will be doing the following things on the eve of Christmas

  • Grill the Turkey
  • Boil and grill the goat meat
  • Cook the base for the jollof rice
  • Cook the base for the vegetable soup
  • Blend some peppers

TUESDAY - CHRISTMAS DAY:

We won’t be doing so much of hosting this year so It’s going to be a quiet and simple Christmas for us. My family and I will go out for breakfast at our favorite breakfast place first thing in the morning.

I will do my best not to spend too much time in the kitchen cooking since I prepped for the meal the day before.

Whether you are having an elaborate Christmas dinner or a quiet one with family, the key to enjoying every moment in this season is mapping out a schedule for getting everything done. I hope you have a merry Christmas and a wonderful holiday.
