Achieve Your Fitness Goal With Nigerian Food

It is no secret that the Nigerian diet is heavy on Carbs so its hard to believe that weight loss is possible with Nigerian food.

My husband and I came up with a meal plan for weight loss. We stopped eating our Nigerian food totally and it worked but not for long. The first time I tasted rice which is my best food by the way after a long time, I just couldn’t stop eating it. I missed my rice and going back to our original weight loss meal plan became a problem. I couldn’t stand it.

What I learned from this experience is to loose weight, you necessarily don’t have to stop eating your Nigerian food, all you need to do is control your calories intake. You might just need to exchange a particular food with something similar but with lower calories. For example, we substituted long grain rice for Ofada rice. For the morsels, there are lower calories options like wheat flour, oatmeal flour or plantain flour. Other good food choices include Moi-moi or Akara, Beans without oil, boiled plantain amongst others.

A great way to achieve your fitness goal is to follow an meal plan with good exercise. A great resource for a meal plan with Nigerian food is the Lose-it-Nigerian e-book by 9jafoodie. The e-book contains creative recipes of tasty meals with their calorie calculation and daily recommendations. You can download a copy of the Lose It Nigerian book through this link.
